Dear New
Student,
I want to
welcome you to third grade! I can’t wait to get to know
you better. We have a terrific group of kids in our class. We’re going
to have a wonderful, fun-filled year.
We’ll put
on two shows, go on two field trips and enjoy learning
together all year! We’ll
learn cursive, multiplication and a lot about our country’s past.
We have awesome religion books and science books. I am so excited about
the stories we get to read!
I love
teaching with all my heart. Please ask questions and ask for
help if you need it. I am here to teach you and help you in any
way I can. Your parents and I want you to achieve all you can this
year. I trust you will enjoy the adventure of everything we’ll study
this year. Get ready for the thrill of third grade!
Please
bring a labeled water bottle to class tomorrow. I want you to be
nice and comfortable during the warm weather. I’ll see you
tomorrow, our first full day!
Love,
Mrs. Hughes
Prayers and
Verses We Learn
We
will review
basic prayers~The Sign of the Cross, The Hail Mary, The Our
Father, Glory Be, Grace Before Meals, andThe
Act of Contrition.
Act of Contrition
O my God,
I am sorry for all my sins with all my heart. In choosing to
do
wrong and failing to
do good, I have
sinned against You, whom I should love
above all things. I firmly intend with Your help, to do penance, to sin
no more
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior, Jesus Christ,
suffered and
died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy. Amen.
Act
of Faith
O
my God, I
firmly
believe that You are one God in three Divine Persons, Father, Son and
Holy
Spirit.I believe that your Divine Son became man and died for our sins,
and He
will come to judge the living and the dead. I
believe these and all truths which the holy
Catholic Church teaches,
because You hath revealed them Who can
neither deceive nor
be
deceived. Amen.
Act
of Hope
O my God, relying on
Your infinite goodness and mercy, I hope to obtain pardon of my
sins, the help of Your grace,
and life everlasting, through the merits of
Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen
Act
of Love
O my God, I
love You above all things, with my heart and soul because You are
all-good and
deserving of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself for love of You.
I
pardon those who have injured me and ask pardon of all those I have
injured. Amen.
The Apostle's Creed
I believe
in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth: and in
Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the power of
the Holy
Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate was
crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead; the third day
he rose from
the dead; He ascended into
heaven and sits at the
right hand of
the Father.
He will come again judge the living and the dead. I believe in theHoly
Spirit; the holy Catholic church the
communion of
saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of
the body, and life
everlasting. Amen.
Hail
Holy
Queen
Hail Holy Queen, Motherof Mercy our
life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished
children of Eve,
To
thee
do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn
then,
most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this
our
exhile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement,
O
loving, sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God… that we
may be
worthy of the promises of Christ! Amen.
