Our conference time is
extremely important to me. Make the most of your time. Conferences are
scheduled every fifteen minutes so coming on time is beneficial.
Please take a moment to read the tips below to ensure a moment to read
the tips below to insure a productive and positive conference for your
child.
Talk to your child before the conference. Ask your child what she would
like you to discuss at the meeting. One strategy is to say, "I'm going
to be meeting with your teacher; what will she tell me?"
Your child's response might provide ideas for discussion.
Ask questions. You will probably want to know how he/she is doing
regarding academics and social issues. What are my child's
strengths and weaknessess. How can I extend my child's learning at
home? How do you evaluate my child?
Is my child excelling? How can you support my child if he/ she falls
behind.
Share informaiton about your child.
Teachers need your help as they educate your children and no one knows
your child like you. The partnership between us is key to your child's
successfully meeting her needs.
Raise issues of concern. Communicate in a tactful, direct way. Listen
to what the teacher has to say in response to the problem. Then we can
work together to find the solution. Take
notes during the
conference if you like. I will write down any actions I will be taking.
After the meeing, I will be calling you to follow-up. Please do not
bring youngerchilden to the meeting as they can cause distractions.
