Today is...
Back-to-School
is such an
exciting time! The children see
old friends
and make new ones. All the supplies, the
teacher, books and subjects are new. We will be doing some getting
acquainted
activities in August and September. Enhancing your child’s self-esteem
is so
important that we will do activities for that purpose each month.
Discussion
of rules and
expectations always occurs early in the year,
as does assessment testing. The purpose of the testing is so I can
learn how to
best meet your child’s needs.
We
will do research on our
families and do activities about friends in
connection with stories in our reader. We
will read, discuss and do activities related to Because of Winn Dixie. A study of map skills is our first topic in
Social Studies.
Place
value, number order and a review of basic facts
will be
our first topics in math.Our
Religion book is awesome!
In the first month, we will discuss the Holy Trinity,
the Old and New Testaments, God, the Creator, Mary
and other women of faith.
We
will begin cursive
writing with
our names, which is fun! Then, we’ll learn
letters with similarities.
Two areas of emphasis throughout the school are writing composition and
the
acquisition of math facts. Starting with
a review of addition and subtraction facts and beginning to learn
multiplication
is our goal this month. I am so excited about teaching
third grade and getting to know both
you and your child. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of help.
I know
it will be a wonderful year!

GODLY PARENTING
<>We
all know that we are suppsuppose to discipline our
children. We know that this will help them
learnto make good choices on their own, but
HOW...How do we discipline our children? We
often tend to focus on
the actions of the child rather the than the attitude of the child. We
really need to look at their attitudes. There you might find the reason
a child is misbehaving. If
we do not help currect the attitude then may just see a child behave
for that moment. However,
if we try to correct the attitude in your child's heart, we will most
likelysee a child begin to make right choices. >
<>>
<> >
Discuss
attitudes with your child. We talk about this at school.
The
Bible really does give us ways to help as we discipline children.
In
Phillipians 2:14 the bible tells us to "Do everything without
complaining or arguing."
Ask
yourself these questions.....
How
often does my child complain?
How
often does my child argue with
me?
How
often do my children see me with an argumentative attitude?
How
often do my children see me
complaining?
<>I
know we all do complain and argue at some point and children do also.
But, has this become ahabit
at your house? When your house is filled with constant
complaining and arguing you cannot
experience the full joy of "family" that God has planned for you.>
<>>
<> >
<>Arguing
and complaining are types
of attitudes we need to address with young children, yet howoften
to we just "let it go"?
><>>
<>>
You
set the tone for these attitudes in your house. Be aware and look for
ways you can make a change
at your house. Set up a Family Meeting time at your house. Discuss
these things withyour children. Change may not come
about overnight and it really takes a conscious and
committed
effort on the part of the parents. God will bless your efforts and yourchild/children
will benefit. HAPPY PARENTING!!! I am praying for you and your family.
