September
A road like brown
ribbon
A
sky that is blue
A
forest of green
With
that sky peeping through.
Asters,
deep purple,
A
grasshopper's call,
Today
it is summer,
Tomorrow
is fall.
I Love Fall
I
love fall! Fall is exciting.
It's apples and cider.
It's an airborne spider.
It's pumpkins in bins.
It's burrs on dog's chins.
It's wind blowing leaves.
It's chilly red knees.
It's nuts on the ground.
It's a crisp dry sound.
It's green leaves turning
And the smell of them burning.
It's clouds in the sky.
It's fall. That's why...
I love fall.

Leaves Around The Year
In
spring the leaves
Are clean and bright.
They
green and grow
In summer’s light.
In
fall they turn
To red and gold.
Then curl up brown
In winter’s cold.
Good-Bye,
Fall!
Leaves in many colors,
Falling all around!
Whirling, twirling gently,
Drifting to the ground.
If only they could speak,
Here's what they would say-
"It's going to get colder.
Winter's on the way.
Autumn
Fluttering
and falling
All around me
Light as feathers, the
Leaves of autumn

Thank
You
Thank you, thank you
Let's all sing.
Thank you, thank you
For everything.
Thanks for the
flowers,
Thanks for the trees,
Thanks for the sun
That shines on me.
Thank you, thank you
Let's all sing.
Thank you, thank you
For everything.

Christmas
Is Forever
Christmas
is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, areeel,
in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others
Is good you do yourself.
Norman W.
Brooks
Bethlehem
of Judea
A
little child,
A shining star.
A stable rude,
The door ajar.
Yet
in that place,
So crude, folorn,
The Hope of all
The world was born.

January
In
January
it's so nice
while slipping
on the sliding ice
to sip hot chicken soup
with rice.
Sipping
once
sipping twice
sipping chicken soup
with rice.
Maurice Sendak
January
January
Now is here
A brand new start
For a brand new year!
Mittens
Thumbs in
the thumb place
Fingers all together,
This is the song
We sing in mitten weather.
When it is cold
It doesn't matter whether
Mittens are wool
or made of finest leather.
I Am A
Snowman
I am a
snowman, cold and white.
I stand so
still all through the night.
I have a
carrot nose
way up high,
And a lump of coal to make each eye.
Snowfriend
Pack
a snowball, make it round.
Roll
it, roll it, along the gorund.
Make
one big ball,
and
one of middle size;
Then
roll a smaller ball.
Add
a nose and eyes
Give
him a broom and
a
scarf of blue.
Now
there's a friend to
play with you!
Snowflakes
I
like snowflakes.
Ask me why. Why?
Because they fall from the sky,
Because they seem
to dance and fly,
Because they pile
up so high,
Because they are
so white and dry.
Because they melt
in my hand,
Because they're
quiet when they land.
Because, because,
because,
That' why,
I like snowflakes!
*Snow*
Snow blows
In bunches.
Snow sparkles
And crunches.
Snow is
clean & cold.
Snow is crisp, and yet
When it warms a little,
Snow is wet.
Any
winter day, I know,
Is
pleasanter when there is snow.
The Snowman
First the
body
Then the head.
A stove pipe hat,
A scarf of red.
Sticks for arms,
And coal black toes.
Pebbles for eyes
And a carrot nose.

Valentine
There's nothing like a valentine.
To make a smile
appear,
A heart-haped card
filled with kind words,
Sent from someone
who's dear,
A friend or even a
relative,
Who takes the time to
say,
I like you ou
just because you're you.
That's what is done
this day.
Martin Shaw
Our
Freedom and Liberty
America
is our own land,
A land so
great and wide,
A land
where many people live
In
freedom side by side.
America
means different things,
To people
great and small,
But when
it comes to liberty,
It means
the same to all!
-Pauline
C. Peck
The Groundhog
The funny little groundhog
Digs a home in
the fall,
And hides there
all winter
Rolled up in a
ball.
On February 2nd
He comes out of
there
To look at the
sky
And
to sniff the air.
Abraham
Lincoln
A great man you ought to know,
Lived a long, long time ago.
Abraham Lincoln the President,
Gave freedom to each resident.
He made the world a better place,
For you and all the human race!
George Washington
Everybody
knows the
story of the cherry tree-
His father asked, “Who cut this down?”
And young George answered, “Me!”
There are a lot of other things
George Washington did do:
Like making maps, and farming,
and he was a soldier, too!
He was our country’s president,
the very first we had.
We will always remember
George Washington, has he
made our hearts so glad.
Winter
Clothes
Under my hood I have a hat
And under that
My hair is flat.
Under my coat
My sweater's blue,
My sweater's red.
I'm wearing two.
My muffler muffles to my chin
And round my neck
And then tucks in.
My gloves were knitted
By my aunts.
I've mittens too
And pants
And pants
And boots
And shoes
With socks inside.
The boots are
rubber, red and wide.
And when I walk
I must not fall
Because I can't
get up at all.

Leprechaun Wishes
I
keep three wishes handy,
In case I chance to
meet
In case I to meet
Any day a Leprechaun
Coming down the
street.
March
March
is an in between month,
When
wintry winds are high.
But
milder days remind us all,
Spring’s
coming by and by.
St.
Patrick's Day
Leprechauns
peeking,
Around a willow tree,
Pussy willows waking,
Longing to be free.
Colleens and shamrocks
And castles old and gray,
Put them all together
To make St. Patrick's Day.
March, We Know
Never
mind March, we know
You’re not really mad
Or angry or bad.
You’re only blowing the winter away
To get the world ready
For April and May.
Weather
Whether the weather be
fine
Or whether the weather
be not,
Whether the weather be
cold
Or whether the weather
be hot,
We’ll weather the
weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it tor
not.

I Can Sing A
Rainbow
Red
and Orange and Yellow and Green
Blue and
Purple too....
I can
sing a rainbow ....Sing a rainbow
And so
can you.
Save The Earth
People
everywhere
breathe the same air,
share the same seas,
live together on the land.
People everywhere
who learn, plan,
A Daffodil
A little
yellow cup,
A little
yellow frill,
A little
yellow star,
And
that’s a daffodil.
All
Puddles are
Raindrops
In a
Lake of
laughter!
Sing a Song of Springtime
Sing
a song of springtime
Smell flowers in the air
Daffodils are blooming
Buds are everywhere
The days are getting longer
The birds just love to sing
Isn't it so nice to say
Hello again to spring?

Appreciation
Appreciation
on this day
Is
due to every mother.
Of all the family you know
She does more than any other.
Mother's
Day
Mother's Day, I reached behind
Some books upon a
shelf.
And gave my Mom a
little card
That I had made myself.
She smiled and hugged
me very close
And said, "Oh, thank
you, honey."
And then her eyes got
full of tears
Now doesn't that seem
funny?

June
Sunny
Sunflower
Sunflowers all different sizes
Line the garden wall.
Some are short and
cheery
Others strong and
tall.
Starting as a tiny
seed
Growing quickly like
a weed.
Whatever size they
are, you see,
Each is special
Just like me!
-Katherine McMahon
School
When school lets out
in June, I feel
As
happy as can be,
I
hop and skip and jump and run
And
shout and laugh with glee.
I'm
sure that I will never want
To
go to school again
But
when September comes around
I
always
like to then.

Vacation
In
my head I hear a humming:
Summer, summer
summer’s coming.
Soon we’re going
on vacation
But there is a
complication:
Day by
day the problem’s growing-
We don’t know yet where we’re going!
Mother likes the country best;
That’s so she can
read and rest.
Dad thinks resting is a
bore;
He’s for fishing at the shore.
Sailing is my brother’s pick;
Sailing makes my sister sick;
She says
swimming’s much more cool,
Swimming in a swimming pool.
As for me, why, I don’t care,
I’d be happy anywhere!
In my head I hear a humming:
Summer, summer,
summer’s coming.
Soon we’re going on vacation
But we have a complication:
Day by day the problem’s growing
Where or where will we be going?
Mary Ann Hoberman
At the Pool
The
swimming pool is packed today.
The kids all
splish and splash and play.
They swim underwater!
They jump from the side!
They dive off the board!
They zip down the slide!
There
are flippers and goggles
And snorkels and floats!
There are tubes and rings
And beachballs and boats!
A
splishy splashy day in the pool
Is the greatest way of
keeping cool!

Scoops
One
scoop,too scoops,
Three scopps, four
We love ice cream
Let's have some more!
At
the Beach
At
the beach
The sun shines down.
I smiles,
On the kids all
around.
Smiling kids in the
sand,
Smiling kids in the
sea,
But the happiest kid
At the beach is me!
Sunny Summer
The summer sun is in thesky,
Shing,shining way
up so high
Makes it warm for
outside fun.
To play at the
park, and run,
To wim and
hike, and fish,
And fish, And go
on a picnic
if you wish.
The Picnic
We
brought a rug for sittin' on,
Our lunch was in a box.
The sand was warm.
We didn't wear
Hats or shoes or socks.
Waves
came curling up the beach
We waded. It was fun.
Our sandwiches were different kinds
I dropped my jelly one.
-Dorothy Aldis
Freedom
In
the summer I am free
To read a book, or climb a tree.
I can sit around for hours
And quietly just smell the flowers.
I can sleep late, till noon if I like,
Do tricks on my skateboard,
or ride on my bike.
I can lile on my back and look
at the sky,
And watch puffy clouds go floating by.
No one tells me what clothes
I
must wear.
I don't have to hurry to be anywhere.
I don't have to practice
my multiplication.
I'm free at last 'cause
it's summer vacation.
