WELCOME ALL VOLUNTEERS!

Thank you for your time and talent you share with us!

Volunteering Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in our third grade classroom! There are many ways that you can be involved in making our year a success.

Depending on your schedule, you can volunteer on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis during many different times of the day. I will also need help in preparing special projects for the class from time to time, so this is also a way that you can help our class from your own home! Lastly, volunteers will be needed for special events and field trips. Watch for notes to come home about these days throughout the year.

~Please try to be on time. We need to make the most of every  minute.

~For each child's safety, all volunteers need to take the Virtus Safe Environment Training and have a background check prior to volunteering.

~ The students in your group will need your undivided attention. Please don’t bring younger siblings.

~You will be working with many children while volunteering. Please remember that it is not okay to discuss a particular child’s strengths, weaknesses, behavior, personality or other issue with anyone else I will not discuss a child with you either unless it is a behavior is an issue while the child is with you.

~Send an uncooperative child back to class.

~Please understand that during the school day, my main concern is my students and their well-being. Consequently, I am unable to get into a lengthy discussion about your child during instructional time. Thank you for understanding.

Mystery Reader Volunteers

Each Friday our class has a Mystery Reader. It is always a surprise who is going to walk through the door on Friday afternoons. If you would like to volunteers your time to be a Mystery Reader check our class calendar for available dates. Any Friday that has a "Mystery Reader" on the calendar is open. Do you have friends or family visiting from out of town? What a great way to let them see our classroom and become involved. Readers can bring their own favorite book or I will have a book ready to go for you. Come read with us!

Math Volunteer

Math volunteers help students in the classroom learn their math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). You will also help with timed fact tests. Volunteers are needed for about an hour from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Reading Volunteer

Reading volunteers help students with their center activities and are a reading buddy to all who want to share a book with you. An extra set of ears are always needed in the classroom. A volunteer is needed for about an hour from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Copy Volunteer

Copy volunteers help to make the weekly copies. You will be trained on how to use the school's copy machines. You will make homework packets, weekly lesson copies, and any other copies that may be needed for the week. A Volunteer is needed on Thursday afternoon from 12:00 PM to no later than 2:00 PM.

Fieldtrip Volunteers

Our class will be taking at least one fieldtrip this year. If you would like to be a parent volunteer for our fieldtrip keep an eye out for dates. Parent volunteers are in charge of a small group of students while we are away from campus. It is always a lot of fun to share our experience with you!

Class Party Volunteers

Do you enjoy parties? Come and join us for our class parties this year. Help to serve treats, play games, or if you have some great ideas you can organize one of the parties. Keep an eye out for information as the year continues.

Misc. Volunteers

If you have some extra time and would like to volunteer please email me and let me know. I know that most parents have full-time jobs so it is hard to be a volunteer, but I know that everyone likes to be involved. Do you have an interesting career that would fit into our curriculum? Do you have a hobby or interest you could share with our class? Do you have connections to a local group or educational experience? Let us know. We are always wanting to learn something new.
